100-Peso Trip to Mangayao Park

January 26, 2017

I've been spending a lot of time in the cave since the last quarter of 2016.This short trip to Mangayao Park is my first legit and solo trip. I hate to admit this but I would tell that it's quite epic. Epic in an unexpected yet awesome way.

First, I was lost (literally). I rode a mini bus from Agdangan and I told the driver that I will alight in Mangayao Park Brgy. Marao.I actually saw the tarpaulin or signage to Mangayao Park before so I know where it is. To my surprise, there's no signage whatsoever at all. Thus, I have to ride another mini bus and made sure that the driver will tell me if we're in Mangayao Park already. Second, I didn't expect that Mangayao Park has no visitors at this time of the week and month. It was actually good and favorable, although it can be kind of creepy most especially that I am a coward. Third, I wasn't able to enjoy the waters because I don't know how to swim. I am completely alone in Mangayao Park and I don't want to risk my life. Instead, I chose to lay in one of the cottages and read a book.

Currently, I'm living with my sisters in Agdangan, the town next to Padre Burgos. My epic bus ride from Agdangan to QNAS (I decided to alight there so that it won't look obvious that I'm lost) cost me 15 php and the second bus ride back to Brgy. Marao was 12 php. I bought foods and snacks for 64 php. I wasn't able to pay for the environmental fee because the caretaker is not there. My fare going home is 15 php too. I spent 106 php for this short trip and I feel bad that I didn't pay for the environmental fee.

 Budget:

Fare (Lucena Grand Terminal to Brgy. Marao) = 40 php
Environmental Fee = 20 php

Aside from the epicness of this short trip, I still enjoy the view and the serenity in Mangayao Park. As of writing, I'm planning to visit Mangayao Park once more and I will go there with my sisters.

Directions:
Ride a mini bus in Lucena Grand Terminal bound to Unisan
Alight in Mangayao Park, Brgy. Marao, Padre Burgos (Be specific and tell the driver that you're going to Mangayao Park)
From the highway, you need to walk and walk and walk

Tips:

Ask the locals or the residents for directions
The path to Mangayao Park is easy to follow but it can be muddy at times
