Tips when Choosing the Best Whitening Products

November 25, 2016

Lately, I am embracing the #ProudMorena. However, my family, friends, and boyfriend kept on saying that my skin color isn't suitable to me. It seems like they are not used to it since I'm naturally fair *#feeler*. Anyways, before I embraced my tanned skin, I did try a lot of whitening soaps and products. I can't even remember how many whitening products I bought in my 21 years of existence. That's how addicted I am to get fairer skin. If you're still in the journey of finding the right whitening products for your skin, here are some tips when choosing the best ones for you.

1. Lightening and whitening are different.
When it comes to beauty and skincare, whitening and lightening are terms that are used interchangeably. But, there's a difference between the two.
Whitening focuses in altering the natural skin color by using harsh or intensive procedures (e.g. using skin bleaching products). On the other hand, lightening aims to make the skin fairer gradually.
Before you choose a product, make sure that you know the effects you want to achieve and which can provide it.
2. The product that works for your friends doesn't necessarily work for you.
Our skin is different from our friends and others. Thus, you can't expect that the product that works effectively to others can provide the same effect on your skin. To be brutally honest, finding the best products for your skin is a long and tedious journey. But don't you worry, sooner or later, your skin will meet its product bestie too.
3. Read the labels carefully.
Choosing a skin care product is like choosing what you will eat. You need to fully understand what's on the label and determine whether it will be beneficial for you or not. For instance, Prima Sassy Belle's Glutagen Whitening Soap contains Snail Extract combined with the power of Glutathione, Kojic Acid, and Collagen components to deliver a natural whitening result.

4. Do skin or patch test before using a new product.
My skin is really sensitive. And I'm sad that it is just this year that I discovered it. Before, I thought my skin is just overreacting with insect bites. But it's not. My skin's sensitivity worsen whenever I use soaps and products that are too harsh or contains ingredients that are not suitable for my skin type.
