2017 Travel Plans, Goals, and Whatnots

November 30, 2016

The whole year has been a roller-coaster ride for me and my family. A lot of things happened unexpectedly. We bought a 3-hectare land in my father's hometown, got myself a pleasant promotion which I later on abandoned, had a nasty quarrel with our previous neighbors (I hate them for causing too many problems to my family, and almost killing us) my brother and I graduated and took the CLE, grandfather's health isn't stable for weeks, almost broke up with my BF, and so on. See, I told you it is a roller coaster ride for us. I'm just glad that everything's better now. Because of what had happened in 2016, I find it really hard to pursue my goals of traveling. But, I guess, 2016 isn't the right time for me to travel and wander. Maybe, I am not ready.

When will I be ready?
I often ask myself when will I be ready? Traveling isn't cheap and I'm not rich. That's the main reason why I can't travel. But, there's an underlying fear that's pulling me back to my comfort zone and that is the fear of going out.

I am a self-proclaimed introvert. I'm having a hard time dealing with people. I am comfortable napping and rolling in the bed all day long. I'd rather sleep or eat than go to the beach with the strangers.

Those are just some of my fears. But I will slowly break down the barriers. I'll start it off with a travel plan and a concrete goal that can guide me all throughout the year.

01. Beach bumming at Borawan, Alibijaban, and Cagbalete
Most of my friends have been to Borawan. Though it is located near where I am, I still find it hard to visit this place. Why? Because most of the information I found are misleading. So, instead of relying on those not-so-useful guides, I opt to visit Borawan in my own ways. I mainly chose these three beaches because these are the most famous ones lately. I do want to see the beauty it has already offered too many.

There are other places in Quezon that are worth visiting. But, of course, I don't want to push myself too hard and dig my pocket too deep. These three destinations will be my main ones this year but I will see to it to travel nearby places too.

02. Passport application

Earlier in 2016, my boss asks me if I am interested in joining another team (the one that trains in Canada) and I chose not to accept it. I haven't been outside the country and I don't want to leave for a work-related purpose. I want to visit other countries for the sole purpose of traveling and having fun.

I'm not confident that I can travel outside the country this year but I need to prepare my passport just to be sure. I don't know what opportunities are waiting for me.

03. Plant more,more, more.
This 2017, I want to save a good amount to develop the land my parents bought. I need to save for seeds. Lots of it. We have hundreds of coconut trees but I do want to plant corns, limes, rubber trees and others. I want to make the most out of the land without ruining its beauty. Thus, planting diverse kinds of plants can do the trick.

04. Be an active volunteer.
I'm not planning to be a hero this 2017. I just felt like my life is totally useless if I can't help in preserving the environment. Thus, I signed up for an environmental group. I want to be part of an organization that has the heart for the environment. And I want to help even with the simplest ways that I can do.

05. Enroll in a new class.
I grew up in a family that gives importance to education and I'm happy with that. Aside from that, I do want to learn new skills and improve the ones that I already have.
